Where have I been?

I guess I've not been paying attention but I just learned that JetBlue is based entirely on Microsoft and .NET technologies.  You can read some about it here.  Jackie seemed to like it.  A friend of mine flew JetBlue to the MySQL users conference and had nothing but good things to say about them.  I find it interesting that we hear that companies need to move to Linux to save money and yet here we have one of the low-cost leaders offering world class service on *gasp* Microsoft software.  Maybe, just maybe, the bulk of costs incurred by a company are not related to licensing.  Nahhh......

  1. And they are inaugurating service to San Francisco soon, so we'll be able to fly back east to visit our family while watching satellite TV the whole way, woo hoo.

When I budgeted Approver.com last year, it was clear that the big budget line-items were going to be: 1) developer time, and 2) the per-CPU database license. Using MySQL with .NET helped significantly with both of those.

Hey Reggie, by the way, I meant to ask you, on http://dev.mysql.com/ where it says "Development with MySQL," how come .NET isn't listed in the links there? People are going to get the impression that the stuff you work on isn't a supported mode of operation.
